February 6th 1999 – Leicester University

So, we enter the “Tequila” era of Terrorvision. Late in 1998 the “Shaving Peaches” album was released and the first single “Josephine” was a continuation of the fantastic sound this band had and spurred me on to buy tickets, not just for this gig, but for one later in the year at Rock City (a venue I was just getting to know about, one which would be a fave)
Then, in early 1999, what could be described as a novelty record came out, “Tequila”. Now it was a very good song and I liked it and to a certain extent, it fitted with the band’s style….but…….I’d become quite attached to the loyalty fans had shown to the band, so to suddenly infiltrated by a bunch of hangers on was a little bit disheartening! But, I can forgive this misdemeanour for the quality of the live show! 😉
I don’t recall the support band, we definitely saw one, I feel like it could have been Die Toten Hosen again, but can’t prove it…..I will return to this if I find anything out.
This was a cracking night out, a few pubs before the gig, a couple in the Union Bar before the gig started and even more in the bar afterwards (well, it was a Saturday)
So much so, my recollection of actual songs is negligible. There was much dancing and singing and as usual we were around half way back, so just outside of moshing but not stationary either.
I’d already bought my Rock City ticket for the next leg of the tour, but was starting to feel the direction of the band was changing, time would tell.
