February 1st 1990 – Leicester De Montfort Hall
You’ve probably gathered, I quite like The Alarm. This was a strange time for me though. Really looking forward to the songs and the first gig of the 90s.

I wasn’t happy at work, I wasn’t massively happy out of it either….and then to compound matters, The Alarm released their poorest album to date (in my humble opinion – I’d love to hear how Mike relates to it)
It was a lot softer than their previous work, but did have a big hit in America with “Sold Me Down the River”. It didn’t feel like the album was pampering to breaking America, but it didn’t appeal to me either.
Anyway, by now, it was tradition to be at an Alarm gig and the didn’t disappoint, well apart from playing some of the “Change” album.
They continued playing the big hits and it was great, but I couldn’t help thinking every time a track from “Change” was played, it slowed everything down too much from what we were used to…..I guess they changed a bit around this time.
So not much to say on this concert, it was a changing time both for the band and for myself…..interesting times were ahead for both of us, but for now, we were stuck in the middle. I guess it’s another reason I keep feeling drawn back to the band and the emotions are so close.
