Thunder – Laughing All Over The U.K. Tour – 1992

October 22nd 1992 – Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham

Supported by The Screaming Jets

The Screaming Jets

I don’t really remember these very well, but they were a fun Aussie rock band, from Newcastle, Australia. Interestingly, we visited Newcastle in 2002 on a road trip of Australia. Some friends had said don’t stop at Newcastle, it just a hole….well we don’t like to be prejudiced like that, so we did, and it was!

I remember them having a great amount of banter with the crowd and playing some great rock songs. They really got the crowd going, which was not something I always got with support bands I’d seen in the past. It certainly felt like they could headline tours in their own right and probably did in Australia.

These boys sound great now I’m researching them and reminding myself of their sound.

Thunder

I guess this was as near as Thunder got to “making it”. and a rocking great gig it was.

Nottingham gigs were always a fun road trip. This one was no exception. It’s only just over half an hour away, so no great shakes to get there and the Concert Hall is a great venue (although seating everywhere). Great tour name too (Laughing All Over The U.K. Tour ).

Danny as usual would have a good old chat with the crowd, could get another three songs in if he wanted to ;-).

Another gig I don’t remember a great deal about, other than the bouncers were very keen on us all sitting in our chairs. They would not give up trying to make everyone sit down. Maybe it was a bit of a macho thing, security against a rock crowd.

Anyway a quick word through the microphone from Danny to the bouncers along the lines of “look, I know you’ve got a job to do and so have I, but we ain’t going to listen to you, and my job is to make this lot dance, so why don’t you just leave us to dance”…..bouncer retreat, dancing begins! 🙂

You need to see Thunder live to appreciate them and prepare to take on board what Danny has to say :-)…so here you go!
