Guide to Beautiful Days Festival 2025

August 15th to 17th 2025 - Escot Park

Our second visit to Beautiful Days festival. Having really enjoyed 2024, decided to come back again. Fast becoming our alternative to Glastonbury as it's so nice, a great size for viewing and yoga available too!!

The Scratch, an intro to Cajón Drumming

February 6th 2025 – Papillon, Southampton

Tonight, I'm checking out another find from Beautiful Days festival, The Scratch and I fear they rattle the ghosts of this old church venue!! It's a cold, wet night outside, but these Irish lads will soon warm us up.

Miles Hunt & Erica Nockalls Tour – 2016

October 22nd 2016 – The Barrington Centre, Ferndown

A little bit different tonight in many ways. Firstly this wasn't The Wonder Stuff, it was Miles and Erica, but playing their stuff and the Stuffies stuff.

Secondly, this wasn't your usual venue. Never did I think (with due respect) the Miles Hunt would play Ferndown!! But now in folk lore....I was there!

Kirsty MacColl Tour – 1995

May 14th 1995 – Leicester Arena (De Montfort Uni) Supported by: The Libertines? Very much in the way I had previously been so excited to see Maria McKee come to Leicester, Kirsty MacColl was another big must for me. Another feisty thing and classy singer. She had been married to legend producer, Steve Lillywhite, she... Continue Reading →

Clannad – Past Present Tour – 1989

May 7th 1989 – De Montfort Hall This was a bit of a nostalgia pub outing. We used to watch Robin of Sherwood in the DeMontfort pub on New Walk, Leicester and had seen Clannad back in 1986. This was their greatest hits tour as they had just released the "Past Present" album which was... Continue Reading →

The Pogues Tour – 1987

March 14th 1987 - De Montfort Hall Now, the newspaper article I have seems to suggest the concert was at the university......this isn't my recollection or that of Setlist website or other websites. I'm pretty sure it was the De Montfort Hall, although I don't have this ticket either to prove it...another pissed up youthful... Continue Reading →

Clannad – Macalla Tour – 1986

February 25th 1986 – De Montfort Hall Robin of Sherwood was a massive television hit at this time, with Jason Connery playing Robin (yep - Sean's son). Clannad were an Irish folk band and were fast gaining a reputation for haunting classical Irish folk music. They had already created the theme tune for Robin of... Continue Reading →

The Waterboys Tour – 1985

October 11th 1985 - Leicester Polytechnic The first Waterboys album I bought was A Pagan Place in 1984 on a recommendation. "The Big Music" and "The Thrill is Gone" were the two feature tracks, but the stand out track for me was "Rags". It was such a mix of sounds, rock, pop, orchestra and piano.... Continue Reading →

The Pogues Tour – 1985

October 5th 1985 - Leicester University I'd say the Pogues were at their peak in 1985, for a number of reasons. They had just released their second album, Rum Sodomy and the Lash, which for me is still their greatest album (quite possibly because it was the first one I bought!). Secondly, in the years... New Model Army Tour – 1984

November 28th 1984 – Leicester University I'm not sure if this was the "No Rest" or "Vengeance" Tour....I'll investigate further, if I was to bet, I'd go for "Vengeance". I'm afraid this is another gig where the ticket doesn't exist anymore. I don't think I understood the beauty of them for the early concerts. New... Continue Reading →
